Arrival: Plan to arrive 15 minutes ahead of your booking time so that you have time to change into your bathing suit. There is free first-come first-serve street parking, or easy drop-off if you are using a ride-share service. When you arrive at our office, you will be greeted by one of our friendly staff members and digitally sign a waiver, if you haven’t already pre-signed.
Let’s get ready: You will have an opportunity to use the restrooms and then proceed to our custom-built floating changing area, where we have two separate changing rooms, along with secure storage space for your belongings you want to stay dry.
Let’s get soaking: Your wood-fired hot tub boat awaits! While you start soaking, that same friendly staff member will give you an overview of how the boat works and a brief safety speech and teach you how to drive the boat.
Let’s get out on the water: You are now ready to explore Lake Union in the comfort of a wood-fired hot tub! Take in the views of the Seattle skyline, the Space Needle and Gas Works park. Explore the unique floating homes along the east and west sides of the lake. Enjoy the thrill of a sea plane taking off or landing over head!

Safety is always our top priority at Lake Union Hot Tub Boats. We are actively monitoring guidance from the CDC and King County Public Health to ensure we are keeping our staff and guests safe. We are implementing additional environmental cleaning procedures to ensure that all public spaces are cleaned frequently.
Our standard cleaning procedures for the hot tub boats — fresh water for every trip, cleaning the boats before and after every trip — are already aligned with the current guidance and we will continue to monitor the situation to ensure we are following the most up to date recommendations and keeping our community safe.
We look forward to seeing you here at Lake Union Hot Tub Boats — we are all in this together!
How much does it cost? Pricing starts at $350 plus tax for weekday morning trips, $400 plus tax for weekday afternoons and evenings, and $450 plus tax for weekends.
Is this real? Yes, this is real! You can actually rent a boat that is also a hot tub!
How warm is the water? We heat the water to 104 degrees. It’s a wood-fired hot tub so you will have the ability to manually change the temperature if it gets too hot or not hot enough.
Are kids welcome? Ages 2 and up are allowed. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Anyone under age 12 must bring their own life vest.
Are pets welcome? We do not allow pets of any kind to join you in the hot tub boat.
How old do I need to be to rent a boat? Anyone aged 18+ can rent a wood-fired hot tub boat.
Can I go in the hot tub boat if I am pregnant? Soaking in a hot tub when pregnant is not recommended. While it is possible to sit on the side of the boat, with just your feet and legs in the hot water, fully submerging yourself in the water is not recommended.
What is the cancellation policy? Things happen and we get it! Full refunds are offered if you need to cancel 7 days prior to your trip. For less than 7 days prior to your trip, we do not offer full refunds. We operate rain or shine. We monitor the weather and make day-of determinations regarding safety. Should we determine that it is unsafe to be out on the lake due to weather-related reasons, we will reach out to you on the day of your booking and a full refund will be given.
What if the weather is bad? Here at Lake Union Hot Tub Boats we believe that most days are perfect for hot tub boat rides! Our guests have great experiences no matter the weather – rain, sun, even the occasional snow flurry! However, safety is always our top priority and if we experience winds above 15 mph or thunder and lightning, we may have to cancel your trip. Should we need to cancel, we will contact you as soon as possible to discuss options. We offer full refunds should we need to cancel due to weather.
Have more than 6 people you want to take out? We love accommodating larger groups! We currently have the capacity to rent out two boats at the same time to accommodate up to 12 people. Please contact us directly to set up a schedule and ask about pricing!
Is there dry storage on the hot tub boat? No, there is not. The hot tub boat has two built-in storage areas for your drinks, snacks, speaker, etc. They offer easy access to anything you might need during your trip, but they do not offer protection from the water. Our Hot Tub Boats offer a full immersion experience. You will definitely get wet! Whatever you bring on the boat with you will likely get wet! We do have 100% dry, secure storage in the changing area for you to safely leave your belongings behind.
How long is my rental? Rentals start out as 2-hour trips. Please contact us directly if you are interested in a longer trip, happy to make that work assuming our schedule permits.
Are there places we can’t go? Yes, you’ll need to stay in between the I-5 and I-99 bridges (the two tallest bridges on Lake Union). Don’t worry! We’ll go over this during the safety speech too.
What if I come back late? We run a very tight schedule trying to prepare the boat for the next guests. If you bring the boat back later than 15 minutes you’ll be charged a $100 late fee plus an extra $100 for every 15 minutes after that. If you decide you want to extend your time when you are on the water, you can call our office and pending availability, we can increase your time for a fee.
What if I damage the boat? You will be responsible for any damage on a case-by-case basis.
What if something goes wrong during the cruise? Our office number is posted on the boat and you can give us a call at any time. We can usually walk you through any issues but we also have a boat to provide as-needed support!
Do I need to know how to drive a boat? Nope. It’s very simple to operate the boat and we will give you a safety demonstration prior to leaving the dock. A simple dial is used to adjust the speed of the boat (like turning up the volume on your car radio) and a wooden tiller is used to steer the boat.
I’m from out of town and don’t have a swimsuit, can I still rent a boat? No problem! Just bring a t-shirt and shorts! Don’t let a lack of a swimsuit stop you from this incredible experience.
Where are you located? Our address is 2401 N Northlake Way. We are located directly beside the Sunnyside Boat Ramp for Lake Union at the Seattle Marina. Just look for the big Lake Union Hot Tub Boat sign!
Is there free parking? There is a gravel parking strip on Northlake Way and it is free back-angle parking, first come first serve. It can be tricky to find parking spots at times and if you are worried, feel free to Uber/Lyft or bike to our convenient location.
What wood do you use for the stove? We use North Idaho Energy Logs. They are a warmer, greener, and cleaner source of wood fuel. North Idaho Energy Logs produce more heat from 100% natural recycled wood and cut emissions by more than 50%!
